Day 6 – March 7, 2024 – New York City
After two days out of the city, we’re back to New York. There’s still plenty to see and for this day, we decide to go to lower Manhattan. Mainly to the area around the World Trade Center, where you can find the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Place of two terrorist acts, first one in 1993 killed 6 people and the second one in 2001 killed another 2,977. Author of the memorial is Israeli-American architect Michael Arad and opening for victims’ families took place on September 11, 2011.

Throughout New York, you can find countless places remembering victims of the attack. It’s important to also remember all the fallen rescuers. One of the such places is New York City Fire Department Memorial Wall located on Greenwich Street. There you can find names of all members of the FDNY who made the supreme sacrifice.

After spending time in and around the 9/11 Memorial, we went to nearby Wall Street. One of the most famous places in New York, located in Financial District of Lower Manhattan, is home of the New York Stock Exchange and also of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

New York is famous for its museums, some of the biggest in the world – be it The Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim Museum, American Museum of Natural History or The Metropolitan Museum of Art and many more. The MET is the oldest and biggest museum of art in the United States and we chose to spend many hours exploring what it can offer.

It’s impossible to get through the whole museum in one day, let along in a half that we had available for this place. You can find anything and everything there, beginning with the Egyptian Art, going through Greek and Roman Art, through Islamic Art, the American Wing, European paintings to Medieval Art, arms and armors and much more.

Before going out for the night, it was time to discover another cuisine that New York offers. We found Middle Eastern restaurant on Amsterdam Avenue that was called Gazala’s. The restaurant was opened in 2007 by Israeli Druze and offers menu full of interesting meals. Shawarma Plate which I tried was delicious.

We wanted to dedicate one night to night life and so that we chose The Ready Rooftop Bar. They offered delicious IPA from the Bronx Brewery, what was a little disappointing was the view from the rooftop bar but it was good experience anyways.
